Sant’Angelo Muxaro – 06 January

Epiphany and the “Pastoral of Nardu”

Also in St. Elizabeth for Epiphany, the “Pastoral of Nardu” is staged, which, between faith and folklore, with the art of mimicry tells the life of the fields.

The centerpiece of the play is transhumance, which is re-enacted on the route from the top of the village to the valley, with that goody-goody Nardu as the protagonist. He will be the first to arrive, without even realizing it, at the cave where Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus are.

And this is the moment when the secular celebration gives way to religious representation: guided by the comet star, three horsemen representing the Magi of Scripture also arrive at the grotto.
