San Giovanni Gemini – Second Sunday in June

Feast of Jesus Nazarene

Celebrated since 1677, the Feast of Jesus Nazarene in San Giovanni Gemini sees the large triumphal float built for the occasion and pulled by a pair of oxen parade through the streets of the town.

Sumptuously decorated and dragged, even physically, by the enthusiasm of the faithful, it is also home to the musicians of the marching bands that accompany it on Saturdays during “la scinnuta” and on the second Sunday in June, during “l’acchianata” that will bring Jesus Nazarene back to the church. Among the most moving moments was the procession with votive candles.
