Bisacquino – August 15
Feast of Our Lady of the Bulge
A journey into devotion that will fascinate everyone. Another moment very much felt by the Bisacquinese community is the Feast of Our Lady of the Bulge, which, culminating in the August bank holiday, lasts for a full fifteen days.

At nearly 1,000 meters above sea level, the Sanctuary of Madonna del Balzo located on Mount Triona is the centerpiece of the celebrations. Here, the simulacrum of Mary is usually kept in a shrine of the high altar; and here, from August 1 to 15, the morning celebration of the “fortnight” takes place. The festivities are concentrated in the last three days and, to the sound of the brass band, involve all the town’s neighborhoods, which are decorated with illuminations for the occasion.
The climax is on August 15, when, emulating the Assumption, an image of Our Lady is flown into the sky, supported by numerous balloons.
